Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between personality based on the Big Five Personalities and the psychological well-being among the nurses. Personality according to the Big Five Personality can be seen through five factors: extraversion, neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. Psychological well-being has six dimensions: self-acceptance, positive relationships with others, autonomy, purpose in life, environmental mastery, and personal growth. The research was conducted with 65 nurses who worked in a private hospital in Surabaya as respondents. The measuring instruments used are the Big Five Inventory and Ryff's Psychological Well-Being Scale. The analysis technique used is Spearman's Rho. Correlation tests were carried out between five personality factors and six dimensions of psychological well-being. From the results of the correlation analysis carried out, it was found that the extraversion factor was positively correlated with all dimensions of psychological well-being. The openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness factors are negatively correlated with the self-acceptance dimension, and positively correlated with the other five dimensions of psychological well-being. Meanwhile, the neuroticism factor in personality is negatively correlated with all dimensions of psychological well-being
